After School Art: Bridget Riley Op Art Workshop

Can a drawing appear to move without actually moving?
In this exciting after school workshop, young artists will discover the fascinating world of Bridget Riley, one of the pioneers of Op Art. Students will explore how simple lines, shapes and repeating patterns can create incredible optical illusions that challenge the way our brains see.
Using pens, paint and paper, students will design and create their own eye-catching Op Art masterpiece while learning about one of the world's most influential contemporary artists.
This fun and engaging workshop encourages creativity, problem solving and confidence while introducing students to important concepts in
visual art and design.
What Students Will Learn
- Who Bridget Riley is and why she is famous
- The history of Op Art
- How repetition creates movement and optical illusions
- Pattern, rhythm and balance in design
- Colour and contrast techniques
- Creative problem solving through experimentation

Each student will create a vibrant Op Art artwork using geometric patterns and optical illusion techniques that they can proudly take home.
